about us

New Aesthetics in Computer Music is a research project based in the Music Research Centre at the University of York (UK). It conducts research into experimental electronic music with an emphasis on independent and oppositional practices and aesthetics.

A major part of the project is an artist in residence programme. This is targeted at professional artists who primarily work outside an academic context. Nine artists will be invited to participate in this programme. The research group will produce publications documenting the field and residencies.

The project employs the following researchers: Thom Blake, Mark Fell, Tony Myatt and Pete Worth, and is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
