Ethnomusicology
York is the home of Gamelan Sekar Petak directed by Dr. Neil Sorrell. York has instruments, recordings and library holdings to support research in Indonesian, Thai and Indian music. Research in these areas is both practice based and scholarly, and research students also take full advantage of the music research centre, research seminars, and composers seminars.
