About SightSonic SightSonic, based in York, is a year round digital arts event, culminating in an annual international digital arts festival. The festival was established in 2000 to celebrate the artistic potential of contemporary technology and takes place, over a weekend, in venues throughout the city. SightSonic presents work of high quality artistic merit that demonstrates
innovation and has digital technology at the heart of the creative process.
SightSonic is committed to bringing leading artists (both national and
international) to York, whilst fostering the development of work by
new and emerging artists. The proportion of established to emerging
artists represented in the programme changes every year - the core of
the festivals is work of international significance. Mission Statement SightSonic presents and promotes work that has digital technology at the heart of the creative process. Aims " To achieve excellence through work in the fields of arts, business,
education (both formal and informal), community and special needs. Objectives " To work with and nurture cross-sector partnerships. Steering Group members: Jethro Bagust, independent artist Co-opted members: Lizzie Forbes-Ritte, director, Purple Marketing Art Group members: Peter Boardman, Cultural Events Manager, City of York Council Community/Education/Special Needs (CESN) Group members: Tim Brooks, Music Consultant, City of York Council Business Group: The Business Group is now operated via Creative York, one of the cluster groups of Science City York. There is two way representation between SightSonic and Creative York.
